Thomson Township is located in the northeast corner of Carlton County approximately 15 miles southwest of Duluth, Minnesota. With a population of 5,704, Thomson Township provides a small town atmosphere for its residents.
Thomson Township is close to many area attractions in the Duluth, MN - Superior, WI area. One highlight would be in the southeastern corner of our township, you can find Jay Cooke State Park and the Munger Trail.
Our Township also has a prime location for new businesses along Interstate 35 in the newly zoned Highway Commercial area. With our close proximity to the Spirit Mountain Recreation Area (12 miles NE) and less than 5 miles from Cloquet, our Highway Commercial area would be an excellent location for long-term business ventures due to direct freeway access and visibility.
