ESKO HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Organized for the purpose of “COLLECTING, PRESERVING, AND DISSEMINATING OF HISTORICAL DATA AND KNOWLEDGE OF THE EARLY SETTLERS AND PIONEERS AT THE HEAD OF THE LAKES”
The Esko Historical Society Museum is located in the heart of the Alex Esko farm. The museum has seven buildings: The Kangas Log Farm House built in 1898, the First One Room School House in Esko, built in 1897, a Grist Mill originally the Midway River at the Palkie Rapids, in 1878, a Savu Sauna, the Riihi (Granary) from the John Sorila farm built in 1885, a separate building containing a Horse Drawn School Bus, Buggies, other early Transportation and Farming Machinery and Tools, and a building over the early Township's D8 Snowplow.
The Historical Society goal is preserve the past through stories and artifacts of Thomson Township.
