Annual Burning Permits for the calendar year may be purchased online for $5.00 by going to http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/burningpermits
Burning Permits issued in office are $1.00 each and are issued for 3 days between the hours of 6PM to 8:00 AM Activations may not be allowed if high winds or dry conditions are forecast.
- Running fires, More than 3 Piles, Large Piles over 20’x20’ and burning over One Acre, Require a Variance from a DNR Forester
- Permits need to be activated EACH DAY you burn by calling the toll free 1-866-533-2876.
- Permits cannot be activated before 3 PM.
Permits are not required for the following:
*For Campfires, but must be in a fire ring, attended, no larger than 3X3 feet, and be totally extinguished before leaving.
*When the ground is snow-covered — by definition, when there is a continuous unbroken cover of snow 3 inches deep or more surrounding the immediate area of the fire, sufficient to keep the fire from spreading
