Notice of Public Hearing Regarding an Amendment to Ordinance 31, Section 28 Sewer Service Rates

Notice is hereby given that the Town of Thomson Board of Supervisors shall hold a public hearing on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at 4:30 p.m.to consider the following ordinances amendment.

A SUMMARY OF TOWN OF THOMSON
AMENDMENT TO ORDINANCE NO. 31

AN ORDINANCE DEFINING THE SYSTEM OF SEWER WORKS FOR TOWN OF THOMSON, MINNESOTA REGULATING THE CONSTRUCTION, MAINTENANCE, USE, CHARGE AND MANAGEMENT OF SAME, ESTABLISHING RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR SAID SYSTEM


The Town of Thomson proposes the adoption of an amendment to said ordinance which will move the setting of charges for service from the ordinance to the Town fee schedule which is reviewed annually.

SECTION 28 

For the purpose of providing operating funds to meet the cost of sewer service, and at the option of the Town of Thomson for the purpose of paying off obligations which have been lawfully incurred or may be hereafter incurred, for the construction and establishment of a Town sewer connection and treatment system. There is imposed on all premises within the limits of the Town of Thomson serviced by municipal sewer system a sewer service charge to be reviewed annually.

 

Current rates to be reviewed as of this proposed amendment are as follows:

  • One-family dwelling used for residential purposes: $35.00 per month
  • Multi-family dwelling: $35.00 per unit per month
  • One family dwelling used for sheltered care facilities, group home living facilities: $45.00 per month
  • Small Commercial: $42.50 per month
  • Large Commercial: $75.00 - $100.00 dependent on size per month 
  • School: $930.00 per month                                                                                                        

 

Proposed 2023 increase to be added to Town fee schedule:

  • One-family dwelling used for residential purposes: $40.00 per month
  • Multi-family dwelling: $40.00 per unit per month 
  • One-family dwelling used for sheltered care facilities, group home living facilities: $51.00 per month 
  • Small Commercial: $49.00 per month
  • Large Commercial: $86.00 - $150 per month dependent on size
  • School – Including former RAM building: $1,200 per month
